2017 has come and is almost gone. As you reflect upon the year’s highlights, remember to mark your calendar for the best countdown parties leading up to 2018.
If you relish cosy get-togethers with a few friends and loved ones, you can usher in 2018 with a dazzling view of fireworks at the stroke of midnight, by booking a hotel room around the Marina Bay or Sentosa beach area.
And if community is what you seek, hit the streets and join forces with thousands of revellers at some of the country’s biggest and brightest countdown celebrations. Either way, you won’t be disappointed.

Billed as Singapore’s “biggest carnival,” the Prudential Marina Bay Carnival adds pizzazz to the city centre, with over 40 rides and games brought in from the UK, Italy, and Germany.
Thrill rides include The Star Flyer, a tower ride that provides a 360-degree view of Singapore’s skyline, and The Booster Maxx, a rotating ride that can reach a speed of 96km/h in under eight seconds.
Food lovers will be in for a treat: take your pick of stalls serving up gastronomic delights such as gourmet burgers and buns, raclette (a Swiss dish of melted cheese), and lemongrass chicken rice bowls.
On weekends, carnival-goers can look forward to performances by rising local acts such as electro-pop musician Jasmine Sokko, currently one of the most-streamed Singapore artistes on Spotify.
The Prudential Marina Bay Carnival runs from 8 December 2017 to 1 April 2018. Opening hours are from 4:00pm to 11:00pm daily, and from 3:00pm to 2:00am on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. Admission to the carnival is free, but there may be restricted entry on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve to maintain crowd control.
For a front-row viewing experience of the 2018 fireworks display, book your spot at The Float (also known as the Marina Bay Floating Platform). Pack a picnic basket and enough party entertainment to sustain you and your companions till the midnight hour. You can also enjoy food and drinks at the event’s artisanal marketplace.
Tickets are available online for S$5.50 per person or S$20 for a group of four. Tickets at the door are S$8 each.
Indulge your love for the arts at Singapore’s Civic District, which will host free events such as sunset yoga, open-air movie screenings, and music performances from 4:00pm on New Year’s Eve till 1:00am of the new year.
In between activities, you can explore the region’s cultural and artistic treasures at the National Gallery Singapore or the Asian Civilisations Museum; admission is free after 5:00pm on New Year’s Eve, and opening hours at both museums will be extended till 10:00pm and midnight respectively.
4. Beach Parties @ Sentosa
In its 11th year, the Siloso Beach Party on Sentosa Island is staying true to its hit formula—foam, fireworks, and “unfettered fun” to the beat of adrenaline-pumping music delivered by international and local DJs. This year’s headlining act is the Bassjackers, a Dutch duo ranked No.35 on the DJ Mag 2017 poll.
For a family-friendly beach gathering, head to the New Year’s Eve Beach BBQ, jointly organised by Coastes Singapore and Sand Bar. Together with loved ones, feast on freshly grilled seafood, succulent meats, and sweet treats while basking in the rustic charm and casual beach vibe of both bars.
5. LAVO Singapore’s NYE/Grand Opening Bash
When it makes its Singapore debut on New Year’s Eve, LAVO Italian Restaurant & Rooftop Bar is counting on its “vibe dining” concept—decadent food paired with non-stop drinks and dancing—to draw crowds, and hopefully become “one of the must-see places in Singapore.” Its celebrity highlight on opening night is American actor-entertainer Jamie Foxx, who will host the party alongside DJ Ruckus, also from the US.
Celebrate New Year’s Eve with an idyllic stay at Pan Pacific Singapore, where you can luxuriate in well-appointed rooms while enjoying bespoke services and the holiday fireworks. Or spend the New Year weekend relaxing in Pan Pacific Serviced Suites Beach Road, Singapore, or Pan Pacific Serviced Suites Orchard, Singapore.
